Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay May 6, 2012

Yesterday, we headed to Anna Maria Island for Food & Wine on Pine.

After wandering down the street lined with food and beverage vendors, and artists offering sustenance for the soul, we continued east to the Pier.

There, we spotted kayakers (and pelicans) enjoying the turquoise waters.

We abided by the rules as we enjoyed the view and soaked up bay breezes.

We recharged our batteries where sand and sky collide to greet the sea.

Aah . . . that’s better!

Now, tell us what Pine is?

nrhatch - May 6, 2012

Pine Avenue is the “main thoroughfare” in Anna Maria City ~ although “thoroughfare” and “city” are stretching it a bit. 😉

Pine runs East~West from Gulf to Bay.

mmmmm…..what a dock, what a bay….and a white sandy beach as a bonus…I see why you say….. “ahhhhhh…..”

nrhatch - May 6, 2012

We have visited many beautiful places over the years ~ from Maine to Florida, from east coast to west coast, from mountain streams to raging rapids, from sea to shining sea. This place is “our place.” We are HOME. 😀

That said, we also loved Carmel By The Sea . . . with its sand sloping down to the sea.

It looks like a paradise!

nrhatch - May 6, 2012

It IS paradise . . . for us, anyway. 😀

4. ryoko861 - May 6, 2012

Niiiiice!

nrhatch - May 6, 2012

Thanks, ryoko!

5. nancycurteman - May 6, 2012

What a gorgeous place.

nrhatch - May 6, 2012

Blue and green have always been two of my favorite colors . . . here they swirl and mix in water and sky.

6. sufilight - May 6, 2012

Just looking at the photos and reading your comments, I felt relaxed. I found myself saying… aaaah, that’s better. 🙂

nrhatch - May 6, 2012

Yay! Exactly the “aah” I was going for. 🙂

7. Kristy - May 6, 2012

Now this looks like heaven to me! I can almost smell the water and feel the ocean air. 🙂

nrhatch - May 6, 2012

It’s a gorgeous place to be, Kristy. When I look at these photos, I FEEL the breeze and HEAR the gulls and the lapping waves (or roaring surf, if it’s stormy). It’s enough to lull me to sleep. 😀

Wow! what a lovely beach to be on…

nrhatch - May 7, 2012

The beaches on AMI are gorgeous . . . both Gulfside and Bayside. This beach has recently been replenished and it’s wonderful for families with small children.

9. jannatwrites - May 7, 2012

It looks so pretty and peaceful there. I also noticed that there weren’t tons of people cluttering up the scenery – that’s a nice bonus 🙂

nrhatch - May 7, 2012

This is the “quiet” bayside of the island . . . calmer waves and fewer people sunning on the beach.

10. Perfecting Motherhood - May 7, 2012

Wow, that’s a lot of “NO” rules!

nrhatch - May 7, 2012

Isn’t it? Of course, some of the rules are rather “self-evident” to anyone with an ounce of common sense. They’re included for any “thought impaired” visitors who might show up. 😉

Nancy! We recognize those views in your pictures!! WooHoo! Beautiful! Sounds like fun 🙂 Anna Maria Island is awesome!

nrhatch - May 7, 2012

Oh, I’m glad you recognize them, Pix. It’s a lovely island, especially along the strand. 😎

12. kateshrewsday - May 7, 2012

The light in your pictures always makes me want to get on the first plane out there 🙂

nrhatch - May 7, 2012

I hope you have a chance to visit one day, Kate. The light is fabulous and helps keep moods buoyant. 😀

13. spilledinkguy - May 7, 2012

Looks like a beautiful place, Nancy!
I’d love to hang-out on that beach for a little while.
Or a long while.
🙂

nrhatch - May 7, 2012

Sit with me
By the sea
And we shall see
Eternity

In each crest of a wave
And grain of sand

14. jeanne - May 7, 2012

That is better…

nrhatch - May 7, 2012

Photos like these calm me to the core.

15. Three Well Beings - May 8, 2012

What a beautiful spot, Nancy! It really looks like a perfect battery charger! I know I’d be recharged…for sure. To me there is just nothing like a sunny day at the ocean for giving me an emotional boost! You really do live in Paradise! Debra

nrhatch - May 8, 2012

Thanks, Debra. This place is perfect for us . . . in each of the four seasons. 😎

16. bluebee - May 8, 2012

A beautiful place you live in – the flamboyant tree in your first photo reminds me of where I grew up 🙂

nrhatch - May 8, 2012

That flamboyant tree is a “traffic stopper” . . . as soon as I saw it, I shouted “Stop the car!” 😀

I tried to find its identity on line ~ no luck.

bluebee - May 8, 2012

That is its identity, if I’m not mistaken, Nancy – it’s a type of acacia known as the Flamboyant or Flame tree

nrhatch - May 8, 2012

Thanks, BB! Just checked . . . you’re right. It’s a flame tree or flamboyant tree that blooms here in May and June.
