Lights Out! March 30, 2012

Posted by nrhatch in Nature, Sustainable Living.

Tomorrow night’s the night . . . lights out for one hour:

We have the power to change the world:

We only have one planet.  You can help protect it. Participate in the world’s largest single campaign for the planet: Earth Hour. It starts by turning off your lights for an hour at 8:30 pm on March 31, 2012 in a collective display of commitment to a better future for the planet.  Think what can be achieved when we all come together for a common cause.

Aah . . . that’s better!

1. Tammy - March 30, 2012

I have always been on vacation during this lights out night. Not, this year. I will have to try it.

nrhatch - March 30, 2012

We’ve done it the past two years. Very relaxing. If the weather’s nice, we turn out the lights and sit outside to watch the stars dance with the moon.

2. Andra Watkins - March 30, 2012

Awesome. Will do.

nrhatch - March 30, 2012

Last year, we turned the lights off, along with the TV, Radio, Computer, Phone, etc., and relaxed into the silence. When the hour ended . . . we did NOT turn them back on. We continued to sit in the midst of peace.

Thanks for the reminder! The last time our lights went out during a storm, we had a delightful time of candle light, wine, cheese, and fruit…maybe I should choose to recreate it without the storm!

nrhatch - March 30, 2012

That sounds like a splendid way to enjoy “Lights Out” . . . wine, cheese, fruit, and . . . chocolate chip cookies!

suzicate - March 30, 2012

Ha, I better make those cookies BEFORE lights out!

nrhatch - March 30, 2012

Yes! Dozens and dozens . . . just like you did before the Perfect Storm.

Beautiful video! 🙂

Inspired and inspiring. Here’s to building a better future!

nrhatch - March 30, 2012

Thanks, Theresa. Lights Out! is a great reminder that we must be the change we wish to see in the world.

6. sufilight - March 30, 2012

nrhatch - March 30, 2012

Thanks, Marie. It’s an easy and enjoyable way to feel connected to others as we exercise the power of choice.

7. Team Oyeniyi - March 30, 2012

We will be. Need to teach the children to appreciate what we have.

nrhatch - March 30, 2012

Excellent! We’ve never done it with nieces and nephews visiting . . . but we love the serenity of a night without bright lights.

8. souldipper - March 30, 2012

Oh….thanks for the reminder, Nancy!

nrhatch - March 30, 2012

I’ve had it marked on my calendar for a month. It’s a delight to turn out the bright lights for one night.

9. Crowing Crone Joss - March 30, 2012

I love that tens of thousands of people participate in this. We can change the world. We ARE changing the world.

nrhatch - March 30, 2012

We are changing the world, Joss. I’m starting to see and feel a real shift in sensabilities.

Crowing Crone Joss - March 30, 2012

so am I. There is a wave of consciousness arising. It’s an exciting time to be here on the planet.

10. Three Well Beings - March 30, 2012

How cool! I must admit I had not heard ONE thing. I love the collective focus! Debra

nrhatch - March 30, 2012

It’s a great way to show solidarity for Mother Earth.

11. barb19 - March 30, 2012

Thanks for the reminder Nancy!
We will be sitting outside under the stars with a glass of wine for the duration (and perhaps longer)!

nrhatch - March 30, 2012

That sounds PERFECT! We’ll be half a world a way doing much the same.

12. wightrabbit - March 31, 2012

I’ve not heard about this before, so thanks for bringing it to my attention, Nancy. I’m looking forward to participating now.

nrhatch - March 31, 2012

Yay! Turn out the lights and watch the stars. Or do nothing at all but breathe, relax, and repeat.

Aah . . . that’s better!

13. Rufus' Food and Spirits Guide - March 31, 2012

But what will I do with the lights out and just me and the wife… oh, this is so cool Nancy!

nrhatch - March 31, 2012

Bwahaha! Some will step outside and watch the stars dancing in the skies . . . other will create their own stars to see. 😀

14. sweetdaysundertheoaks - April 1, 2012

Nancy that is a beautiful video. We had lights out and TV and everything was off and we sat under the oaks last night. It was beautiful but I had forgotten about Lights Out! Well our hearts are there today 🙂

nrhatch - April 1, 2012

Even better . . . you dimmed the lights as an organic spontaneous act. 😀

sweetdaysundertheoaks - April 1, 2012

Yeah! I like that Nancy 😀

15. eof737 - April 22, 2012
