No!  Not me!

Here’s a hint:

OK . . . I’m sure by now you’ve figured out the Centenarian in our midst!

A few fun facts as Oreo Cookies celebrate 100 year:

* On this day in 1912, the National Biscuit Company (Nabisco) sold its first Oreo cookies to a grocer in Hoboken, New Jersey.

* Kraft Foods now sells Oreos.

* They’re the country’s top selling cookie.

* Oreo cookies are now available in more than 100 countries.

Got milk?

So . . . how do YOU eat Oreos?  Do you twist them apart and scrape out the icing?  Do you dunk them in milk?  Do you crush them over ice cream?

Someone brought some to Katherine’s office. Can’t believe they’re that old.

nrhatch - March 6, 2012

I know, right? They don’t taste a bit “stale” to me! 😆

2. Andra Watkins - March 6, 2012

I once ate the white centers out of an entire package of Oreo cookies and threw the chocolate cookies in the garbage. My Mamaw found them in the trash and almost made me eat them for being so wasteful.

nrhatch - March 6, 2012

Bad Andra! (As a kid, I liked the centers best too). 😉

3. thirdhandart - March 6, 2012

Oreos are delicious. 🙂 I’ve never crushed them over ice cream though. I’ll have to try that!

nrhatch - March 6, 2012

They are delectable mixed into softened vanilla or chocolate ice cream, Theresa. Yummy!

4. Patricia Caviglia - March 6, 2012

When I was a kid, I would separate the cookies and eat only the part that had the cream although most of the time, I just licked it and put the cookies back in the bag. LOL!

nrhatch - March 6, 2012

I am glad you didn’t live in my house . . . finding Oreos “licked clean” and returned to the bag would have been a HUGE bummer. 😆

5. Three Well Beings - March 6, 2012

100 years! That’s just amazing to me! As a child I really enjoyed pulling them apart, but now I enjoy the crunch of the whole cookie! It’s been a while since I’ve had an Oreo frenzy. I think it’s time to have one 🙂 Debra

nrhatch - March 6, 2012

You should, Debra! It is your Birthday MONTH, after all! 😀

How do I eat Oreos? Very quickly (or late at night). If the kids find me with the package, I’ll have to share 🙂

I prefer to eat the cookies without dismantling them, but if I also like DQ’s Oreo Cookie Blizzard. Yum.

I love Oreos .

nrhatch - March 7, 2012

I’m not much for packaged cookies . . . except for Oreos. Double stuffed or dipped in white chocolate. And I love Oreos mixed into ice cream ~ like the DQ Blizzard. 😀

7. Jas - March 7, 2012

I make an oreo bed in the glass, pour dollops of ice cream on it and load it with choclate sauce… sinful, isn’t it!

nrhatch - March 7, 2012

Sinfully delicious! 😀

8. eof737 - March 7, 2012

Happy 100th Birthday Oreo! 🙂

nrhatch - March 7, 2012

I wonder if someone will erect a statue in Times Square to commemmorate the occasion and mark the celebration. 😉

Oreos have the white stuff for me!

nrhatch - March 7, 2012

You are so white! 😀

11. Tilly Bud - March 7, 2012

I don’t eat them at all. I don’t like them.

nrhatch - March 7, 2012

That’s okay: we all have different tastes. 😉

12. suzicate - March 7, 2012

Happy Birthday to my great friend! So glad they came out with double stuffed. Have you tried the berry ice cream? Ah, definitely heavenly!

nrhatch - March 7, 2012

I love double stuffed Oreos . . . and Oreos smothered in thick, rich white chocolate . . . and Oreos smashed up into Coffee ice cream with ribbons of Kahlua . . . and . . .

{{nr will be back later . . . she had to make an emergency visit to the pantry}}

13. sweetdaysundertheoaks - March 7, 2012

I crunch right into them and we do crumble them on vanilla ice cream!

nrhatch - March 7, 2012

Thanks, Pix. As a fast food spokesperson once said, “Crunch {and crumble} all you want . . . we’ll make more.” 😀

14. spilledinkguy - March 8, 2012

OREOS… *aaarrrgghhhh*!
I’m pretty sure I just drooled on myself there. Seems like I should be celebrating with a sleeve. Or twelve.
I wish Kraft will ever come out with bowls of just the icing. I’d eat that by the truckload.
🙂

nrhatch - March 8, 2012

Ooh . . . SWEET idea there, SIG! A vat of OREO filling would send your blood sugar through the roof so far you might feel as if you were in the WONKA-vator!

15. GretchensPianos - March 8, 2012

You’re making me hungry. 😉

nrhatch - March 8, 2012

Oops . . . my bad. 😉

I would follow more food blogs EXCEPT that it would probably cause me to eat more than necessary.

GretchensPianos - March 9, 2012

Ooo… don’t apologize! That was a JOKE!

nrhatch - March 9, 2012

Here’s to healthy appetities and savory sweets! 😀
