Ha, I remember Thanksgivings at the beach. Christmases were even weirder.
Running barefoot on the beach during the holidays is such a delight. I have more than enough memories of bundling up to waddle from one relative’s house to another . . . bearing gifts of glad tiding while buried in “swaddling clothes.”
Oh Boy! This is the first time I’ve come across this joke. 😆 It is downright hysterical and then you think about it again… Ugh! Poor Turkeys. 😦

If I am re-incarnated as a bird . . . I don’t want it to be as a turkey, chicken, duck or goose raised on a factory farm like an inanimate object.

This is funny! Enjoy your Florida Thanksgiving! We will be in Kentucky with the folks and a lot of family. I rather doubt it will be as warm and wonderful (weatherwise) as destinations further south, but it will be with family. Enjoy your day!

It’s a very hot 80F here in Miami. I am using apple sauce not cranberry. I bet no one really likes cranberry sauce. I don’t. If they did they would not eat it on only one day a year or maybe Christmas too.

I’ve been cooking today so I have more time to visit tomorrow. At the moment, I feel like I just stepped out of the hot oven.

For the entire time that I lived in Miami, my Mom, who lived in Missouri, would tell me, “The weather is so nice here. You should move back.” I know she was fudging on the truth just to get us back home. But, if there is such a thing as perfect weather, Florida has it (except maybe for the hurricanes). Enjoy the perfect weather.

Living here has been a dream come true after spending the first “half” of my life in the North East.
Thus far, the hurricanes have stayed away from our shores. Fingers crossed our luck holds for a few more years.

hehe, thanks for the chuckle! Read the last comment about the Florida weather, and it’s true, the weather there is great. My sister sometimes has tears of gratitude for relocating to Florida from New York. She feels like she is always on vacation and it has also given her a more calm space to heal from the loss of her teenage son.

I feel like your sister ~ I no longer desire to go “on vacation” because “where I am is where I want to be.” This was a good move for us. It is a real treat to be cooking Thanksgiving dinner in shorts . . . and we may be able to go to the beach with our nieces tomorrow.

Oh, my! We were watching some of the snowfall on the Weather Channel during lunch . . . and were glad to be “here” instead of “there.”

Someone we knew brought up a turkey chick with Christmas in mind (when we do turkeys) but the bird became a family pet instead and has the run of the house. Hilarious! Heaven help visitors if Woo doens’t like you.

I’m not surprised at the family’s attachment to Woo. I expect that most/many/some people would eat less meat if they had to raise and kill the animals themselves. Grabbing pre-packaged meat at the store removes us from “the source.”

Morning NR…am so glad we don’t do the Thanksgiving bit here…bad enough planning the Christmas pigout.
My mom always liked Thanksgiving better because she ONLY had to focus on preparing the feast and giving thanks. She didn’t have to have one eye on 4 excited children unwrapping presents (one at a time, please!) while keeping the other eye on the roast beef and yorkshire pudding.
We’ve never had Christmas dinner in our own home. Up north, we bounced around from house to house ~ brother, sister, mother, etc. Down here, we head to Orlando to my sister’s. She usually makes scones for us to nibble on while opening packages and something veggie, like meatless shepherd’s pie or broccoli alfredo, for dinner.

It was gorgeous today ~ went for a walk on the beach with my two nieces and we only turned around because they started to look “done in the sun.”
