The Beachhouse ~ Flavor To Savor October 21, 2011

Posted by nrhatch in Food & Drink, Happiness, Nature.

We took advantage of the gorgeous weather today to enjoy an early birthday lunch for BFF at the Beachhouse restaurant on Anna Maria Island.

I’ve written about the Beachhouse before ~ here and here and here.

Our table sat underneath the brilliant sub-tropical sun, overlooking the gentle waves of the Gulf of Mexico.

I ordered the Florida Cracker special . . . without the mullet ~ Fried Green Tomatoes, Cheese Grits, and Collard Greens.  One of the Top Ten Best meals I’ve had since moving here.

If you’re not hungry yet . . . this video on dining in Southwest Florida may tempt your taste buds with Flavor to Savor:  Dining Out in Southwest Florida

Aah . . . that’s better!

So . . . what about you?

Where’s your favorite place to dine . . . when the weather is fine?

1. sufilight - October 21, 2011

Nice! Looks yummy, especially the pie. I just had a cup of tea with half a toasted pita bread and low calorie string cheese, not like the dining in the video for sure. 🙂 I love to dine out, it’s relaxing for me.

nrhatch - October 21, 2011

We rarely go out to eat UNLESS we can eat out. 😎

The Gulf Coast of Florida is dotted with wonderful waterfront restaurants that are delicious and affordable . . . especially when you factor in the FABULOUS views.

2. thornyrose - October 21, 2011

Don’t know about a favorite place, but I could go for some fried green tomatoes and cheese grits right about now.

nrhatch - October 21, 2011

They were SO GOOD. Haven’t had either in ages . . . loved every bite! 😀

3. Rufus' Food and Spirits Guide - October 21, 2011

I love that you have a top 10. But you know I feel bad for the new No. 11 that lost it’s place on the list.

nrhatch - October 21, 2011

Greg, you are the kindest most empathetic person I have never met. 😆

It’s a pretty loose list . . . it might even have 15 meals in the Top Ten slots.

4. kateshrewsday - October 21, 2011

Well, on reflection, I think your beach house might be my favourite place to reflect, Nancy 😀
Quite like my forest, though: if only one didn’t feel one had to keep moving through it. Maybe it’s time to sit still there for a bit.

nrhatch - October 21, 2011

Pressing the “pause” button does us a world of good.

Of course, it’s hard for parents of young children (and pets!) to sit still for more than the time it takes to drink a cup of tea.

If ever you deside to visit Florida . . . we’ll take you to the Beachhouse straight away! 😀

This is so wonderful! Your meal sounds delicious. Thanks for stopping by my vacation post. Have rather neglected my blog this past week except for actual posts while I am here. Want to catch up when I am back home again – as the moments here are both luxurious yet racing away, too. Going out for a walk on the beach shortly – but did want to stop by. This looks like a great place for lunch (which sounds yummy!). I like to eat wherever the food is great, and as long as there are no anchovies in my meal, that covers a lot of ground. And if it includes mushrooms, asparagus, artichokes, fresh tomatoes, wild rice or orzo pasta, so much the better 🙂 In that case it does not matter if there is indoor or outdoor seating. At this time of the year indoor eats are more my style anyhow 🙂
thanks again for stopping by – will visit here again once I get back home. Cheers!

nrhatch - October 21, 2011

I love your list of faves . . . except the ‘shrooms. Enjoy every minute of your waning vacation. I’ve enjoyed the photos you’ve shared. 😀

6. Pocket Perspectives - October 21, 2011

What a wonderful day…and soooo beautiful there! Please pass along an early happy birthday wish to BFF….great place to celebrate! We went out for brunch here and had wonderful food with a SF Bay views … http://www.thespinnaker.com/tour_diningroom.html . Or better yet, a picnic lunch in the midst of redwoods.

nrhatch - October 21, 2011

Shall do, Kathy. We love picnics among the trees too. I’m going to check out your link. SF Bay views are splendid. 😀

7. Ruth - October 21, 2011

It all looks so lovely – raining here, and coolish… Happy B’day to BFF.

nrhatch - October 21, 2011

We’re having delightful weather ~ warm days and cool nights. With lots of sea breezes. It’s a nice change from the summer months.

8. BrainRants - October 21, 2011

OK maybe there is something worthwhile about Florida.

nrhatch - October 21, 2011

Especially at this time of year ~ glorious sunshine and swaying palm trees. 😀

9. Carl D'Agostino - October 21, 2011

A little crispness in the air in Miami. Delightful relief. June – Sept is a 4 month Bataan Death March.

nrhatch - October 21, 2011

It’s definitely been a bit brisker and crisper the last few days. A bit of a nip in the air.

10. Tilly Bud - October 22, 2011

A perfect day. No wonder you savoured it.

nrhatch - October 22, 2011

We rarely go out to eat . . . dining surfside was a lovely treat. Yay for birthdays!

11. Marion Driessen - October 22, 2011

Coming over right now! 😉

nrhatch - October 22, 2011

Definitely a lovely spot for a meal or a drink . . . or a wedding. Many couples tying the knot say their vows on the beach before having the reception on the outdoor terrace.

12. bluebee - October 22, 2011

The beach and sea looks like heaven on earth – what a great view to dine with

nrhatch - October 22, 2011

We sat at a table right next to the rocks ~ with the waves lapping on the sand just a few feet away. Perfect for a pre-birthday celebration.

13. BeacHhouse Restaurant - October 22, 2011

Thanks for sharing your experience with us Nancy! We here at the BeacHhouse really appreciate it!

nrhatch - October 22, 2011

Thank you! We had the best time. Everything was PERFECT!

14. grannydog - October 23, 2011

What could be better than dining seaside where the weather and scenery are perfect and the food mouth-watering? Thanks for sharing! 🙂

nrhatch - October 23, 2011

That’s what I say, grannydog! Seaside meals on sunny days . . . nothing better. 😀

15. Tokeloshe - October 24, 2011

Beautiful photos, I feel warmer already 😉

nrhatch - October 24, 2011

We’re having lovely weather at the moment ~ in the 70’s today with bright brilliant sunlight.

LOVED your pottery birds, Tok. They are exquisite.

16. Christine Grote - October 24, 2011

Claddagh overlooking the Ohio River in Newport, Kentucky.

17. Team Oyeniyi - October 26, 2011

Seeing the photos of the beach was de-stressing material, big time. Lovely photos, Nancy.

nrhatch - October 26, 2011

Those photos are not mine ~ I borrowed them from the Beachhouse’s website. I was too busy eating to take photos. 😀
