A Surprise Gift In The Mail September 21, 2011

Posted by nrhatch in Art & Photography, Blogging, Gratitude.

Goofy-SurprisedI got a surprise gift in the mail today . . . from a blogging buddy!

Not just any blogging buddy . . . a blogging buddy who visited us in Florida last winter and saw, through her own eyes, my love affair with all things Z~E~B~R~A!

(And all things C~H~O~C~O~L~A~T~E.)

I opened the package and spied ZEBRA Marshmallows drizzled in CHOCOLATE!

But it gets better . . . she also enclosed one of her gorgeous photographs of purple coneflowers being visited by a delicate yellow and black butterfly

She sure fit a heaping helping of happiness in that  surprise package!

Thanks, Jeanne!

Zebras rock . . .

You do too!

S’More, anyone?

1. phrogmom - September 21, 2011

that sounds delicious!!!

nrhatch - September 21, 2011

Doesn’t it! I’m going to toast a couple tonight for dessert!

2. flyinggma - September 21, 2011

What is the beverage of choice to consume with Zebra S’Mores? You’ll have to let me know what is best! Enjoy…Jeanne

nrhatch - September 21, 2011

The package suggests dropping the chocolate striped marshmallows into coffee for a mocha vanilla latte. I’m going to try that in my coffee tomorrow morning.

Tonight . . . I’m making S’Mores with a side of iced water.

Thanks so much, Jeanne. We loved getting a surprise package in the mail ~ much better than the bills and charitable solicitations that greet us most days.

3. kateshrewsday - September 21, 2011

I’ve heard it all now…chocolate marshmallow zebras….what a lovely thought from a friend.

nrhatch - September 21, 2011

Jeanne (Flying G’Ma) is the first blogger that I’ve met face~to~face.

We had a great time showing her and her husband around the area and hope to see them again this winter.

nrhatch - September 21, 2011

Thanks, Tok! I would love to toast them over that roaring campfire featured in your post yesterday. 😀

5. clarbojahn - September 21, 2011

The best of the blogging world. Good friends! Congrats!

nrhatch - September 21, 2011

Thanks, Clar! Have you had a chance to meet any of your blogging buddies yet? We so enjoyed spending time with Jeanne and her husband when they visited our neck of the woods.

clarbojahn - September 21, 2011

I just found out that one neighbor has been commenting on my blog and I didn’t recognize her. 🙂 Now it’s double the fun.

nrhatch - September 21, 2011

That is very cool! Lucky you living close enough to get together for coffee with someone who follows your blog.

6. ceceliafutch - September 21, 2011

That sounds wonderful! And the fact that you met her and got to spend time with her!!! Thanks for sharing the delicious surprise with us! 🙂

nrhatch - September 22, 2011

Blogging opens up so many new vistas and windows to the world, expanding our hearts and minds while introducing us to new people, places, and things. Such FUN!

7. Cindy - September 21, 2011

What a treat, Nancy. Enjoy!

nrhatch - September 22, 2011

I made a mini S’More last night on Ritz crackers. A tasty tidbit.

8. the island traveler - September 22, 2011

Wow. What a true and generous friend. I’m happy for you. The gift is beautiful. The Zebra marshmallows shows how she remembered what you like, and that’s really sweet and thoughtful friend. Stay blessed always.

nrhatch - September 22, 2011

Jeanne is a delight ~ warm and wonderful. A true jewel.

9. Jackie Paulson Author - September 22, 2011

zebra and chocolates…how nice. I am so happy that you were surprised with the nice gift from your blogging buddy. The heart of the gift and the heart of the receiver is one Miracle I will take with me everywhere I go.

nrhatch - September 22, 2011

Thanks, Jackie. Jeanne has a warm heart and a wonderful sense of humor. We hope they’ll visit the Gulf Coast again this winter.

10. eof737 - September 22, 2011

Yummy… pass the box will ya … please. Anyway, that is so sweet of her and good for you! 🙂

nrhatch - September 22, 2011

Definitely a “sweet” gesture.

I enjoyed my mini s’more last night, and I floated a couple in my coffee this morning (they’d be better in cocoa).

11. misswhiplash - September 22, 2011

what a lovely kind thought that was and what a lovely friend to do that for you

nrhatch - September 22, 2011

If only we didn’t have 1500+ miles between us, I’d get together with Jeanne for coffee (and s’mores) . . . or an adult beverage . . . whenever she had the time to spare.

12. Team Oyeniyi - September 22, 2011

And Momfog is making zebra cakes! http://momfog.com/2011/09/12/a-week-of-surprises/

I’m glad the marshmellows survived the post!

nrhatch - September 22, 2011

They did survive the post. I worried that the chocolate and marshmallow might have parted ways . . . but they hung together. 😀

I’ll check out those zebra cakes. Thanks, Robyn.

13. LittleMissVix - September 22, 2011

Yum good gift!

nrhatch - September 22, 2011

Sweet treats . . . FUN to eat. And the photograph is already framed and displayed with other wildflowers. 😀

14. Lian - September 22, 2011

That’s so sweet! Surprise gifts can make your day, can’t they? Enjoy the marshmallows!

nrhatch - September 22, 2011

They really can. Most days our mail is B~O~R~I~N~G (bills and solicitations from charities and businesses) . . . so it’s nice to find a card, letter, postcard, or a sweet surprise in the box.

15. spilledinkguy - September 22, 2011

Not too shabby!
I bit shipping a zebra was a bit of a trick, though!

nrhatch - September 22, 2011

A bit awkward to wrap . . . 😉

Althought they did it in Madagascar (with a lion, a zebra, a hippo, and a giraffe) . . . so it can be done. Carefully.

16. Linda - September 22, 2011

How wonderfully thoughtful. I have never heard of Zebra marshmellows before. Lucky you!

nrhatch - September 22, 2011

I hadn’t either until Jeanne shared them with me. They are small marshmallows with zebra stripes of chocolate.

17. CMSmith - September 23, 2011

nrhatch - September 23, 2011

I enjoyed toasting them better than floating them in my coffee (as suggested on line) . . . such a sweet surprise.

Nothing like getting the proof copies of your book in the mail, though! Congratulations again!
