The Farmer’s Cock August 21, 2011

Once upon a time, a farmer had a cock . . .
The farmer’s cock, a randy rooster, ruled the roost.
He serviced the chickens, the ducks, the geese, and even made an occasional play for the four-legged inhabitants on the farm.
The farmer admonished the rooster to stop all that cock-a-doodle doing before the cock wore itself out and withered away to nothing.
The randy rooster refused to listen.
He continued cock-a-doodle doing from sunrise to sunset.
One day, the farmer came upon the rooster lying face up in the middle of the farm yard . . . dead.
The farmer shook his head at the withered cock, “See! I knew you would wear yourself out with all that bandying about and cock-a-doodle doing!”
The cock cocked open one eye, pointed at the sky, and whispered, “Shhh . . . buzzards!”
No rules. Just write!

OK, that is definitely not going to fit in our kitchen!
It’s 7-8 feet tall and belongs in a yard . . . or barnyard. 😀
This one’s not in your usual style!
Love the artwork. Fabulous.
This has been a favorite joke of mine since my teens. 😀
Here’s a link to more of the Prescott Sculptures, Tilly:

I definitely recommend a look around his website (link above). Very cool yard sculptures.
Going over there now.
LOL 🙂
Thanks, PiP! I love this joke. 😀
I loved that..it really made me giggle and I loved the cock in the picture.
thank you for putting a smile on my face. Tilly is right it is not your usual style but sometimes it is good to deviate a bit!
Thanks, MissWhipLash!
Being predictable and consistent with past practice is rarely my aim these days. 😀
lol!
That’s what I say! 😆
LOL!!!! Not what I expected from you . . . which made it even funnier!!!! Loved it. 😀
Thanks, Cecelia. Glad you enjoyed! I figured the title would warn away the “faint at heart.” 😛
Too funny!
Glad you enjoyed. I had a blast writing it up. 😀
It took me a second. Good one.
I think that’s what I always loved about it . . . the surprise ending. 😀
Well that title was a show stopper, Nancy, and the picture added to the festive spirit 😀 Lovely story.
Thanks, Kate. I heard a much raunchier version of this joke in my teens ~ one that relied heavily on a certain expletive starting with the letter “F.”
I had a blast typing up this tamer version today, toning it down with gentle euphemisms like cock-a-doodle doing. 😛
Great picture and laughter to start my day. Thanks.
Yaa! Glad you enjoyed, Judith. Making people laugh is one of my favorite things to do! 😀
Lol, yes this is not as raunchy as the version I heard years ago. Whenever I hear cock-a-doodle-do, it always takes me back to first grade when we did that song and everyone wanted to be the rooster to get to sing cock-a-doodle-do. Of course, this was long before I realized I couldn’t sing!
You probably heard the version I heard . . . completely inappropriate for SLTW! 😳
awsome! took me a while. now i cannt stop laughing!!,
thanks for sharing,
Samyak
Yay! Delayed reactions are the best ~ when dawning recognition gives way to laughter. 😀
What a hysterical story… only you can tell this one well. 😆
I had tons of FUN writing this today . . . trying to create a clean enough version to share on SLTW.
I have a few other “off color” jokes which I’d love to share ~ they will require even more verbal massage before posting.
That, of course, is what makes writing such a blast:
Hmm . . . how can I say this with the greatest impact and the least offense?
Thanks for the belly laugh Nancy – you gave me a good start to the day!
Belly laughs are the best way to start the day! Have a marvelous Monday, Barb.
Hahaha!
Randy the randy rooster . . . 😉
HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!
Man, you gotta love the randiness…
Horny little devil!
*#*
I just got an image of the SNL skit “making copies” and can hear the copy guy saying . . .
Randy . . .
Randy the rooster . . .
Randy the rooster’s ruling the roost!
Cock-a-doodle doo . . . 😎
LOL! Insatiable bird!
I wonder if this is why Cindy’s resident rooster crows at all hours of the day and night? 😉
Lol, or should I say “cock-a-doodle-doo”?
You seem to have caught them on the roll…
Thanks, enermazing! Glad it tickled your funny bone chakra! 😆
