Meet Tilly . . . The Laughing Housewife July 24, 2011
Posted by nrhatch in Blogging, Humor, Writing & Writers.trackback
Tilly Bud, also known as The Laughing Housewife, cannot cook.
I am dead serious:
* Her husband uses a smoke detector as an oven timer.
* House guests refuse to let her cook.
* Her pancakes resemble scabby knees.
Word to the Wise: If she invites you to dinner, eat before you go unless you like burnt sausages, beans on toast, or Maltesers.
On second thought, forget the last.
Tilly doesn’t share Maltesers . . .
EVER.
Not even if you’re friends with Matt LeBlanc (a/k/a Joey Tribianni).
Not even if it’s your Birthday.
Not even if you’re her BFF or her BBB (Best Blogging Bud).
And that’s . . . O.K.
What Tilly does share (in generous doses) is laughter:
* Laugh out loud laughter.
* Snort beverages out your nose laughter.
* Pee in your pants laughter.
* Spray coffee over your keyboard laughter.
* Laugh until you cry laughter.
* Fall into the coffee table laughter.
* So true it hurts laughter.

So . . . I have just one question for you: Have you laughed today?
We do not laugh because we are happy. We are happy because we laugh. ~ William James

Age improves with wine
Life improves with laughter
Laughter is the sun that drives winter from the human face. ~ Victor Hugo
Laugh and the world laughs with you. Cry and people call you a cry baby behind your back.
No rules. Just write!

I have never been to her page actually….I’m thinking I should check it out! I love laughing 🙂
She warned us that she may be on hiatus for a few days as she re-decorates her son’s room . . . fueled by copious quantities of Maltesers. 😀
TillyB just cracks me up.. I cannot really believe that her cooking is that bad..but maybe.
Her humour is fantastic and always makes me smile…but she is departing from us soon to do the wallpapering in her son’s bedroom.Manchester City I think!
Perhaps the fun she pokes at her cooking is just a bit of self-deprecating humor. No matter. When I visit her, I’m not taking any chances . . . I shall treat her to Fish ‘n’ Chips. 😛
And a dessert of a BIG box of Malteasers!
I’ve heard that TillyB holds the TP hostage until house guests hand over some Maltesers. 😀
Tilly has a great blog, and she never fails to make me laugh – she has a brilliant sense of humour.
She writes as she speaks, take her or leave her, that’s our Tilly!
She’s so busy decorating, she’s missing this lovely party we’re throwing in her honor.
I won’t blow out the candles until the Guest of Honor arrives.
There is nothing like the kind of laugh where you’re laughing so hard you can’t make a sound. 😀
Thanks, Maggie.
I should add that to the list ~ “Stop it! I can’t breathe” Laughter.
Tilly is a lovely lady and her blog is choc-a-bloc with jokes. Behind all that crazy humor is a sensitive and thoughtful human being… She’s a loyal blog buddy too… Our Tilly is fun! 🙂
Indeed she is! And a good mom too!
She must be hard at work decorating her son’s room. I hope she remembers to come up for air . . . and maltesers. 😉
I couldn’t aagree more with everything you say (in this post anyway 😉 ). I can hardly wait to open her blog posts each day. I’ll had my capital letters to your post: READ THE LAUGHING HOUSEWIFE! You will never regret it! Long may she stay married to her house and laughing about it all the way!

Next item: Tilly doesn’t need your advertisements. . .she has tons of readers! Now, about my blog – REFLECTIONS FROM A CLOUDY MIRROR” – it could use a little bump in the numbers!
(The above advertisement was paid for by the Committee to Promote the Reflections From a Cloudy Mirror Blog. RFACM approved this message.”)
Actually I should have that message on other blogs – you promote me almost constantly already – and I AM grateful! 😳 😉
(The check is in the mail.)
Your shameless begging to be featured (again!) on SLTW got me thinking . . .
Why not add a page with links to articles on blogs and bloggers featured on SLTW?
Here it is . . . https://nrhatch.wordpress.com/ta-da/
Once completed, you will feature prominently. 😛
Thanks for the inspiration . . . and, as always, you’re welcome!
It’s a super idea NRH! But, after my own plug (but paid for by CPRFACMB) – recommend some others first – like Tilly – so it’ll make me look a little better – you know, cater to my ego, but not too much, because I’m so self-effacing and all!
“Stop! Stop! You’re embarassing me. . .” (That sort of quote goes a long way to lending credibility to your recommendations. . . 🙄 )
Once again . . . we’re on the same page. When you visit theTa Da! page, you’ll see you feature prominently, but not exclusively.
I don’t want to be accused of cow-towing to lobbyists. 😛
Especially to overpaid lobbyists like CPRFACMB ~ the Committee to Promote the Reflections From a Cloudy Mirror Blog.
I need a good laugh…sounds like I need to visit Tilly!
She’s a hoot! And a bottomless barrel of laughs, jokes, and general FUN and frivolity. 😀
Totally agree, Nancy: Tilly brightens my day most days. Clever lady; must be all the maltesers.
Same here. You might be right about the maltesers. I know that chocolate always makes me smile. 😉
That gave me a good laugh.
Wonderful, Greg!
Best way to spend our days . . . laughing and smiling. 😀
Tilly must have written a particular scene in the movie, Bridesmaids. I laughed in all of those ways and finally had to stop watching the movie and cover my eyes because I couldn’t allow things to get any worse in the movie theater. I do have to warn you in case you want to go see the movie there are some scenes in the beginning that are rather adult shall we say. But later in the movie you’ll forget all about that and laugh as you never have before.
That is GREAT to know ~ movies that make me laugh are my favorite!
Thanks, Linda. I am going to add it to my Netflix queue. 😀
Amazing…I’ve seen Tilly’s comments in a few blogs I follow and I have not gone over to check out her blog. I will do that immediately. I love learning how women survive in the world without cooking.
The smoke detector line was brilliant. One of my friends (under revision as I think about this) told others that I clean my oven by vacuuming the cobwebs.
LOL! That’s hysterical, Amy.
Hmm . . . I wonder if TillyB has cobwebs in her oven? Maybe she’ll tell us when she tires of decorating. 😀
She also has another blog… where she writes some seriously good poetry http://imnotaverse.wordpress.com/
Not just frivolity, our Tilly.
Quite true. And, given her quietude today, she’s also a mighty hard worker when she puts her mind to it. 🙂
Tilly is a hoot, she makes me smile every day 🙂
Ditto! 😎
Nancy, if I weren’t British I would throw my arms around you, kiss you (on the cheek; we’re not that close), and holler ‘THANK YOU!’
As it is, I am British, I’m embarrassed, so here’s a polite handshake and a muttered ‘Ta very much, I’m sure.’
Thank you for featuring me, and for your wonky maths.
And thanks for the nice comments, everyone. Don’t think this entitles you to a Malteser, however.
🙂
PS I can’t believe that the first day I don’t read your blog in all the time I’ve been following you, I get a mention. That’ll teach me.
I expect that the universe planned it out this way . . . because you’re British.
Had you been around yesterday, you might have felt compelled to follow the comments . . . and become so overwhelmed by the attention that you collapsed into a blushing heap of housewife ~ good to no one and nobody. 😳
Now, you can read the “cards” left by your admiring fans without having to sit in the center of the room with all eyes upon you. 😉
P.S. You rock!
I was just showing this to the Hub and he said how good it was of you, but that first photo of me isn’t a very nice one…sometimes I wonder why I hang on to him.
I know why you hang on to him . . . he’s got a great sense of humor. Life is always better with laughter.
Glad he enjoyed it! 😀
