The Generous Eyes of Spirit June 20, 2011

Posted by nrhatch in Gratitude, Mindfulness, Spirit & Ego.

Our perspective on life changes drastically when we look at issues through the generous eyes of Spirit, rather than through the clouded lens of Ego.

When we abandon Ego’s attempt to control the environment around us (a virtual impossibility) and learn to embrace Spirit’s  acceptance of the world (both without and within), we flow more gently through life.

Instead of shaking our fist at the sky in a futile attempt to stop the rain from falling, we embrace the rain with joy . . . by splashing around in the puddles.

Quotes to Ponder:

* Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass . . . it’s about learning how to dance in the rain.  ~ Vivian Greene

* Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance. ~ Anonymous

* The purpose of our lives is to be happy. ~ Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama

* Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm,
but to add color to my sunset sky. ~
Rabindranath Tagore

Those are some great quotes there!

nrhatch - June 20, 2011

Happiness in life is largely dependent on the lens we use. 😀

2. vixter2010 - June 20, 2011

Very apt as it’s raining here! Love the quote about dancing in the rain, one to remember!

nrhatch - June 20, 2011

It’s a great reminder to accept things that are outside of our control and control the things we can . . . like our ATTITUDE. 😀

3. Shannon - June 20, 2011

Great reminder to flow with the moment and be open to surprises 🙂

So true. When we accept the “what is” . . . we are free to embrace all that is offered right here, right now.

4. Rosa - June 20, 2011

On my evening walk last night, I wandered into a charming gallery that was open later than usual. There is a little patio pathway leading to it, with various flowers in full bloom. There is a lovely fountain making that tinkling water sound, and multi colored outdoor lights strung in the trees. As I got closer to the door, I could hear opera music and smell rose petals. I realized that the gallery owner was in the back working late (about 8pm) on the computer and had decided to make every moment as lovely as possible. It was like a spiritual moment for me!

How wonderful, Rosa!

We do not appreciate art (and life) only with our eyes. We can see it, smell it, hear it, touch it, taste it, and embrace it . . . if our hearts are open to the moment at hand. 😀

I would love to have the rain to dance in right now! 🙂
I love those quotes you picked for your post!

nrhatch - June 20, 2011

Thanks, Sharon. Hope that rain arrives in short order. I know that everyone around you would love to splash in some puddles right about now.

6. Christine Grote - June 20, 2011

I should put your quotes on my blog post today.

nrhatch - June 20, 2011

When I saw your post, I immediately saw the similarities . . . let’s dance in the rain until the rainbow appears on the horizon.

7. Cindy - June 20, 2011

Lovely quotes, I’m dancing … have to keep warm 😉

nrhatch - June 20, 2011

Thanks, Cin! I don’t envy you . . . up in the middle of the cold, dark night. Here’s to a cup of coffee in your cozy kitchen.

8. souldipper - June 21, 2011

Good quotes to end my day, Nancy. The sun pooped out today so I’m dancing with Cindy. We’ll keep the globe in balance.

nrhatch - June 21, 2011

Excellent plan, Amy. When you’re done dancing, Sharon would love some rain in Texas to help squelch the blazing fires . . . send it her way.

9. eof737 - June 21, 2011

So true… let it rain…. 🙂 I love the picture you used above. Lots of great color. 🙂

If you click on Maitte’s name, you’ll be taken to her gallery in Island Gallery West. Wonderful watercolors . . . soothing to the soul.

Oh yes! And I love this quote:

* Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass . . . it’s about learning how to dance in the rain. ~ Vivian Greene

Thank you, Nancy

nrhatch - June 21, 2011

Here’s hoping you’ll be splashing about in puddles in short order. 😀

Happines is always a choice. The more one expects to be “made happy” by someone else or something else, the less chance they will either be happy or stay that way!

nrhatch - June 21, 2011

I agree. When I’m annoyed or frazzled or stressed and resisting the “what is,” a smile will turn the day around.

The physical act of smiling sends messages to the brain to “be happy.” That releases endorphins and starts an “upward spiral” ~ a natural mood elevator. Going up? 😉

I love the dancing in the rain idea…

nrhatch - June 21, 2011

Splish Splash! 😉

13. Samyak - June 24, 2011

Great quotes nancy, here is one to add in the list:
any idiot can face a crisis; it’s the day to day living that wears you out.

nrhatch - June 24, 2011

Haha! Day to day living can wear us out . . . we need to remind ourselves to take periodic respites from the fray. 😀
