Hop Aboard The Trolley June 18, 2011

Public transportation on Anna Maria Island is unique:

* Reggae musicians on the roof

No woman, No cry

* Manatees and Gators on board

* A pelican behind the wheel

* Camera-toting turtles (& tourists)

* Bejeweled pink flamingos

* Not to mention the white egrets (flirtatious birds to say the least).

For a bit of fabulous fun and folly . . . hop aboard the island trolley!

No rules.  Just write!

Artwork by Barbara Hines, an island resident whose whimsical paintings reflect her sense of humor, love  of nature, and respect for creatures, great and small.

Fantastic fun – tell me more!

nrhatch - June 18, 2011

The trolleys provide free transport up and down the island through its three cities ~ Holmes Beach, Bradenton Beach, and Anna Maria.

Hop on the bus, Gus
Make a new plan, Stan
You don’t need to be coy, Roy
Just set yourself FREE!

How civilized and what fun! Weren’t the lyrics in some of the old songs a riot? I remember my father having a few conniptions over the music that was turning our cranks.

I love lyrics that speak to me . . . resonating all the way down to my toes. Those are the songs that get lots of airplay with me.

How shall I spend the day?
Listening to the songs I love . . .

Whimsical paintings are Barbara’s metier ~ I love her work, especially of the island and its offerings.

What a great place to visit 🙂

We came for a two week vacation in December 2008 and decided this is where we belonged. One of my better decisions in life.

It’s been a fun, fabulous, and FAST 2 1/2 years! It seems like just yesterday that we were debating whether to move here without waiting for the house in MD to sell.

Zoooooommmm! The years fly by!

sounds like so much fun! good times! may they keep coming:)

nrhatch - June 19, 2011

Thanks, Debra. Same to you! Here’s to ever increasing clarity . . . with a bit of frivolity flown in for good measure. 😉

Where are the dancing snakes? 😉 Very funny post! 🙂

nrhatch - June 20, 2011

There’s a sign on the trolleys::
NO SNAKES ALLOWED!

At first, the island thought it might result in a claim of discrimination against legless reptiles. Eventually, the attorneys decided “snake” was NOT a protected classification . . . it was just a genus or species. 😉
