We’re not usually up in time to hear the cock’s crow . . .
Or to witness first light: . . .
Unless we’re still celebrating the preceding night . . .
We seldom go for an early stroll on the beach . . .
Or a canoe ride at dawn . . .
Just thinking about it makes us yawn . . .
Sometimes we wake up on the wrong side of the bed . . .
Which causes us to be cranky . . .
Until we’ve been fed . . .
We’ve heard that sunrises are often spectacular . . .
And that the early bird gets the worm . . .
But we’d rather eat donuts at noon . . .
Than get up at the crack of dawn . . .
To hear some blasted rooster singing Cock-A-Doodle-Doo . . .
How about you?
Early Bird . . . or Night Owl?
No rules. Just write!

Parading with Parasols June 10, 2011

To paraphrase a parable:
The paradox of paradise
Involves parallel paradigms
Our paranoia of the paranormal
And our paraphernalia paralyze us
The paramount paragon?
The paradox of paradise?
Our parasitic life
Parading with parasols
To restate a simple truth:
The unexpected state of bliss
Involves similar patterns
Our fear of the supernatural
And our attachments blind us
The zenith of perfection?
The unlikely truth of paradise?
Our dependent life
Right here and now
Parading with parasols
Heaven is a place on Earth
