This week’s theme is wildlife.

One of our favorite things about Florida.

Florida is definitely “For The Birds!”

Of all shapes and sizes.

And colors!

Here’s to Unity, Community, and Diversity!

Awesome pics. I LOVE the one with the reflection.

nrhatch - May 7, 2011

Thanks, Suzi! I could spend all the daylight hours just photographing the splendid wildlife down here. The birds especially.

2. Lisa - May 7, 2011

Love the pictures. I love birds.

nrhatch - May 7, 2011

Thanks, Lisa. Hope you have a joy-filled day today after the dismay of yesterday. 😀

3. Maggie - May 7, 2011

I like the one of the spoonbills best. 🙂

nrhatch - May 7, 2011

We love the spoonbills! They hang out at a lake near us in flocks of 20 or so for part of the year. Every once in a while, one visits our lagoon ~ always a special treat.

4. carldagostino - May 7, 2011

The wetlands are being poisoned and disappearing through eutrification and construction. When Lake O is too low habitat also evaporates. All this aside I love those blue jays and their taciturn take no prisoner attitude. Love to see them dive bomb those mean ol’ cats ! Hate cats.Washington DC seems to shelter 435 bird brains.

nrhatch - May 7, 2011

Wow! From poisoned lakes to be-fowled politics . . . and in only 5 lines. You rock!

I love blue jays too. And cardinals. And hawks. Good names for sports teams. 😎

carldagostino - May 8, 2011

“be-fowled politics” I love how you go anesting with words for your large flock on commenters.

nrhatch - May 8, 2011

What an eagle eye! 😉

5. Tilly Bud - May 7, 2011

You live in a beautiful place.

nrhatch - May 7, 2011

It really is gorgeous here, Tilly. Blue skies about 300 days of the year, and lots of water and wildlife. If you ever decide to hop over the pond . . . keep the Sunshine State in mind for part of your itinerary.

But listen to Carl . . . stay away from Miami. 😉

6. Samyak - May 7, 2011

i know it has already been said, but awesome pictures really!

cheers,

nrhatch - May 7, 2011

Thanks, Samyak! I rarely do the WP prompts . . . except the photo prompts. They are always a delight to work on.

7. CMSmith - May 7, 2011

Beautiful photos of beautiful birds.

nrhatch - May 7, 2011

Thanks, Christine! I had a tough time picking and choosing which to include ~ I selected about 20 and had to cull the flock one by one.

8. Shannon Sullivan - May 7, 2011

Thank you for sharing your biodiverse community with us Nancy

nrhatch - May 7, 2011

Thanks, Shannon!

I hope people head round to check out your bobcat and cactus shots. They are amazing.

9. Rosa - May 7, 2011

Wow, I thought flamingos were the only birds with that fabulous pinky color!

nrhatch - May 7, 2011

Check out the Kangaroos and Pink Galahs link ~ another gorgeous pink bird! 😀

10. Penny - May 7, 2011

Great pictures, especially liked the one with reflections.

nrhatch - May 7, 2011

Thanks, Penny! If you have a minute check out the links to the bobcat and the kangaroos. 🙂

11. Booksphotographsandartwork - May 7, 2011

That would be so much fun! I love the bird with the black legs and beak.

nrhatch - May 7, 2011

They’re delightful to watch. That’s a snowy egret that walked up to me on the beach one day.

12. barb19 - May 7, 2011

Your photos of the birds are a delight! I love them, and you are pretty cool with a camera!

nrhatch - May 7, 2011

Thanks, Barb. My camera rocks! It does all the hard work for me . . . once I find something to shoot.

I hope lots of people swing by to see your beautiful kangaroos and galahs.

13. jannatwrites - May 8, 2011

If Arizona had birds like that, I might like birds a little more. (We have lots of pigeons who make their mark on my car, even when I park far away from any trees.) One of the few birds here I like are quail.

Thanks for sharing your pictures – they really are good (to affirm what others have already told you :))

nrhatch - May 8, 2011

What about roadrunners?
beep-beep

They’re cool. 😎

jannatwrites - May 8, 2011

They are cool, but they move so fast, I hardly ever see one! Where is Wiley Coyote when I need him?

nrhatch - May 8, 2011

Now I’ve got that song in my head:

Roadrunner . . . the coyote’s after you
Roadrunner . . . if he catches you, you’re through.

14. therealsharon - May 8, 2011

Such beautiful bird photos! I love the photo challenges best of all! 🙂

nrhatch - May 8, 2011

Thanks, Sharon. The photo prompts inspire us to stop, look, listen and SEE the world through a slightly different lens.

And that’s good.

15. eof737 - May 8, 2011

Love those birds… I was convinced you would feature wildlife of the human kind. LOL! 🙂
Happy Mother’s Day! 🙂
Elizabeth

nrhatch - May 8, 2011

I thought about it. 😯

Wild Thing . . . you make my heart sing . . . you make everything . . . G~R~O~O~V~Y!

16. kateshrewsday - May 8, 2011

Gorgeous! The light is amazing in your pictures too…sending envious vibes from the UK…

nrhatch - May 8, 2011

The light here is wonderful ~ clear blue skies more often than not.

Come see! We’ll leave the “light” on for ya!

17. flyinggma - May 8, 2011

Love the bird photos especially the one with the reflection.

BTW, Do you know the name of the pink flower I included in my mystery tour post? I’ve been searching for a name for it with no success.

nrhatch - May 8, 2011
nrhatch - May 8, 2011

I don’t recognize it.

I included your photo in my Mother’s Day’s post ~ with a link to your post.
