Stop Paying TWICE For Your Gas! May 2, 2011

From Sierra Club:

When Americans fill up at the pump, we are forced to pay twice ~ once for the gas and once in the billions in subsidies we give Big Oil companies every year.

Big Oil should be helping, not hurting the federal deficit. The oil industry just posted billions in profits in their first quarter reports, with Exxon reporting $10.7 billion in profit, Shell raking in $6.9 billion, Chevron posting $6.2 billion, Conoco Phillips announcing $3.03 billion and BP bringing in $5.5 billion.

It’s time for Congress to take REAL action for fiscal responsibility by eliminating the billions of dollars of tax giveaways to Big Oil.

Instead, we must invest in transportation solutions that end our dependence on oil, including public transit and efficient cars that get at least 60 miles per gallon by 2025.

Remind our representatives in D.C. to put PLANET before PROFIT and GREEN before GREED . . .

Tell Congress to Stop the Subsidies.
