I went to the enter site. I have some great ideas. But they want info and this seems like another effort to collect marketing info under the guise of environmental concerns. I avoid these because I am bombarded with ads until I spam them.

I’m sure that it is, in part, an effort to collect marketing info. But it is also, in part, a chance to win a $700K Eco Prize.

I’ve entered for the past few years and have NOT been bombarded with ads from HGTV or its affiliates.

Of course, I also haven’t won a Green Home. 😎

You could always paint yours green. I will check it out again.

nrhatch - April 19, 2011

Good idea, Carl. We do have a fairly “green” home ~ it’s small and costs very little to heat or cool.

I enter the Green Home Give-Away each year to show support for the idea of Eco-Friendly building techniques. If I won, I don’t know what I would do. I doubt I would move to Colorado, or keep it as a vacation home.

I’ll cross that bridge if and when it arises. πŸ˜€

Thank you Nancy πŸ™‚ I entered I would enjoy a home in CO. during summer. heheh virtual hugs to you

My younger brother loves living in Colorado. It’s a beautiful state filled with wide open spaces.

3. Cindy - April 19, 2011

Wow, what a prize πŸ™‚

nrhatch - April 19, 2011

The one that I most wanted to win was the home in the Florida Keys. I prefer beaches to mountains. So do lots of other HGTV viewers.

I took a poll about what the NEXT Green Home GiveAway should be. “Beach Cottage” got 60% of the responses. πŸ˜€

4. Maggie - April 19, 2011

Ooh, I like these prizes… except the SUV. But who can say no to $100,000? πŸ™‚

nrhatch - April 19, 2011

Good luck, Maggie! Colorado is a beautfiul state.

5. Greg Camp - April 19, 2011

If I win, do I get a job once I’m installed in my new house?

nrhatch - April 19, 2011

Yes. At Colorado State University. And as a Whitewater Rafting Instructor on the weekends.

6. Naomi - April 19, 2011

What a cool competition idea, especially involving that gorgeous part of the world – namely Denver, Colorado! Although we loved visiting there and skiing at Breckenridge, relocating could be tricky, so we’ll leave it up to you and wish you lots of luck πŸ˜€

nrhatch - April 19, 2011

Maybe if we win, we’ll set it up as a Writer’s Retreat . . . so writers can visit and flex their creativity. 😎

7. souldipper - April 19, 2011

And, Nancy, if you have a Writer’s Retreat, who would you hire to cook for us??? πŸ˜€

nrhatch - April 19, 2011

No one. But I might pay Cindy’s airfare to come join us whenever she’s in the mood! πŸ˜€

We’ll offer her the BEST bedroom in the house for as long as she wants to stay.

8. viewfromtheside - April 20, 2011

that sounds just wonderful
pity i don’t live there

nrhatch - April 20, 2011

Well, if I win . . . you’ll be invited to the Artist’s Retreat. πŸ˜€

9. eof737 - April 23, 2011

Neat. I could use that for a change! πŸ™‚
