The Sound Of Silence January 23, 2011

Posted by nrhatch in Humor, Mindfulness, Word Play.

“Hey, stop that!”

“Gonna make me?”

“What’s going on?”

“Will you guys shut up!”

“Like I said, whose gonna make me?”

“Me.  Now, shut up!”

“I can’t study.”

“Why not?”

“Why not, what?”

“I’m gonna scream.”

“Go ahead.”

“Who did that?”

“I did.”

“Well, stop it.”

“Stop what?”

“Shut up, I can’t study.”

“What’s going on here?”

“Quiet.  I have to get this done before next period.”

“Well, who’s stopping you?”

“Oh, I give up.”

“Too bad.”

“Never mind.”

“Leave me alone.  I have to finish this.”

“Big thrill!”

“What did you say?”

“Get outta . . . ”

“Shhh . . . teacher.”

Today’s WP Post A Day Prompt ~ What’s Your Favorite Sound?

Answer:  Silence

True silence is the rest of the mind; it is to the spirit what sleep is to the body, nourishment and refreshment. ~ William Penn

Even in the stillness, the cosmos swirls. Even when silence reigns, we hear its heartbeat.

This is good, Nancy. How many times have I been there? I share the love of silence. I’m sitting in it right now, except for my thoughts and the hum of my laptop. Guess I better retract that statement! 🙂

When I silence my thoughts and exist in that space and state of internal stillness, I’m filled with peace and joy . . . no matter what is going on around me. Bliss!

How cute! All that noise just to beg for silence! Ha! Blessings to you…

Glad you enjoyed. This reminds me of being in study hall in H.S. ~ constant commotion and chatter to drown out.

I won’t say a word – except for those 5 – whoops! Make that 13. . .

nrhatch - January 23, 2011

It’s hard to silence ourselves when we’ve got something to say. 😉

4. Cindy - January 24, 2011

I like what you did with the prompt 🙂

nrhatch - January 24, 2011

It was a toss-up between silence and the laughter of a two year old playing with a puppy. 🙂

5. Maggie - January 24, 2011

Wow – that sounds almost exactly like many high school classrooms in the moments before a test is to be handed out or an assignment is to be handed in. Nice.

Study Hall = not a good place to study. 😉
