One of the Best Things About Florida . . . January 4, 2011

Posted by nrhatch in Art & Photography, Humor, Nature.

We can build snowmen all year . . .

And not just snowmen.

Snow reptiles also make a frequent appearance . . .

As do occasional cartoon characters . . .

And creatures from the sea . . . like Hugh Manatee!

Have a Terrific Tuesday!  Or should I say . . . see ya later, Al E. Gator.

They have a Sandblast Contest every year to raise money to local charities. Schools and clubs pay an entrance fee to compete.

Hugh Manatee was one of the amazing sculptures which resulted.

I don’t always have my camera with me for walks on the beach. When I do, there is almost always something to snap . . . 🙂

Those are amazing!

Aren’t they? The fine art of sculpting with sand.

I miss Florida. Still. Texas is nice. Love those sand castles. Blessings to you, Nancy…

Thanks, Carol Ann.

Most places have something special to offer, but this place speaks to me more than the other places we’ve lived.

I haven’t spent much time in Texas ~ just visited some friends in El Paso once, and drove through the state on cross country trips in 1976 and 1992.

Maybe you need to come back to the Sunshine State for a visit in 2011?

I’d love it. My family lives in Florida. I liked it there very much. 🙂

Ooh, I love the pictures! We get tons of sunshine here, but no sand like that…I don’t see people doing many cacti sculptures 🙂

I’m glad you had your camera, thanks for sharing!

It’s amazing what can be done with a pile of sand. Glad you enjoyed.

My sister and her husband live in Naples. Your post (and today’s prediciton of more actual snow here) makes me want to get in the car and head on down!

When we lived up “north,” I visited my sister in Orlando as often as I could manage. Especially during the winter months of January – March.

That reminds me . . . no more virtual snow on our blogs until next December. I miss it.
