Waves of Blue October 14, 2010

Posted by nrhatch in Art & Photography, Humor, Word Play.

Tonya LaTorre attended an Art Festival this past weekend: My Escape to Houston’s Art Fair.  When I admired the hand marbled silk scarf she bought, she sent “it” to me via digital image:

Gorgeous, isn’t it?

If you’re going to be blue, this is the right kind of blue to be.

“Artists can color the sky red because they know it’s blue. Those of us who aren’t artists must color things the way they really are or people might think we’re stupid.” ~ Jules Feiffer

“Blue color is everlastingly appointed by the Deity to be a source of delight” ~ John Ruskin

“Whenever I feel blue, I start breathing again.” ~ L. Frank Baum

Pluto-Happy“One reason a dog can be such a comfort when you’re feeling blue is that he doesn’t try to find out why.”

“Roses are red, violets are blue, I’m schizophrenic, and so am I.” ~ Oscar Levant

“The Smurfs are little blue people who live in magic mushrooms. Think about it.”

“If the sight of the blue skies fills you with joy, if a blade of grass springing up in the fields has power to move you, if the simple things in nature have a message you understand, Rejoice, for your soul is alive.” ~ Eleanora Duse

“The real miracle is not to walk on water, but to walk on earth. Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don’t even recognize: a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the black, curious eyes of a child, our own two eyes. All is a miracle.” ~ Thich Nhat Hanh

Aah . . . that’s better!

Love the scarf and my favourite eye colour is blue 🙂

These waves of blue soothe my soul.

Great quotes, and that scarf is really neat!

I had hoped to find one or two quotes on blue, and found many that suited this fine scarf.

Oscar Levant’s quote made me laugh out loud.

Absolutely gorgeous scarf – and is that a new header picture? I love it!

The soft blue sky did never melt
Into his heart; he never felt
The witchery of the soft blue sky!
(William Wordsworth)

Header is the same as it’s been since launch . . . but the blue scarf sets it off and accentuates the light of the moon. 🙂

Great quotes, thanks for sharing!

We’re off to see the Wizard . . . the wonderful Wizard of Oz.

But Oz never did give nothing to the Tin Man that he didn’t, didn’t, already have.

Thank you for feeding all… no, just about all of my senses in one blog. How to go, Nancy. I especially love the first and last quotes.
The first one is so very important for me to remember – to help me let go and go for it.

Red sky at night . . . writer’s delight.

Paint the sky with words.

7. Naomi - October 15, 2010

Lovely post, Nancy – great pic and I especially enjoyed the reminder about breathing 🙂

nrhatch - October 15, 2010

L. Frank Baum’s quote is wonderful . . . if you’re still breathing, you have something to smile about.

Ahh… I love blue. Thanks, Nancy!

When I saw your graphic, I thought you would appreciate this “scarf” that Tonya found. 😀
