The April Fool’s Day Contest Begins!  Starting now and counting down to Story #1 (on April Fool’s Day), post your best guesses below.

The local news down here in the Sunshine State airs some funny stories ~ stories so ridiculous that they could not possibly be true.

Or could they?

That’s for you to decide.

One night, while watching the news, we heard a story about an armed robbery at a local convenience store.

An un-masked man, caught on the store’s security camera, demanded that the clerk hand over all the store’s Florida Lottery Scratch-Off Tickets.

Lottery Scratch-Offs in hand, the armed robber fled the store and made a safe get-a-way.

Almost.

After reaching safety, he began scratching off tickets to see whether and what he’d won.

Shazam!

Winning tickets in hand, he returned to the same convenience store to claim his winnings.

What did he win?

An all-expense-paid vacation, complete with room and board . . . to jail.

Moral:  Some people . . . they just can’t win for losing!

OK, guys . . .

Fact or Fiction . . . the absolute Truth or a Tall Tale for April Fool’s Day?

Post your best guess in the Comment Box below and stay tuned for the next installment in our April Fool’s Day Contest.

My first thought was NOT… I’ll stick with it, even though it sounds like something I saw on America’s Dumbest Criminals — which happens to be true accounts…

I think I’ve heard this before, so I guess true.

nrhatch - March 27, 2011

It is true. We saw it on the news one night and decided he deserved to be featured on SLTW as the “how not to rob a convenience store guy.”
