“Great quotes make the light bulb go off in my mind. If you’re like me, you’ll jump at the chance to bypass all the churning and scoop the cream right off the top ~ that is what quotes are . . . the cream of our learning!”
~ Zig Ziglar
So . . . here’s some cream for your coffee:
“It is a funny thing about life; if you refuse to accept anything but the best you very often get it.” ~ W. Somerset Maugham
“Golf is a matter of confidence. If you think you cannot do it, there is no chance you will.” ~ Henry Cotton
Attitude, not aptitude, determines altitude.
Whether you think you can, or you think you cannot, you’re probably right.
“Golf without bunkers and hazards would be tame and monotonous. So would life.” ~ B.C. Forbes
We build our muscles by flexing them.
“The more I practice, the luckier I get.” ~ Gary Player
“People always call it luck when you’ve acted more sensibly than they have.” ~ Anne Tyler
“Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” ~ Martin Luther King
Just leap . . . and the net appears.
“The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.” ~ William Arthur Ward

Yesterday, I wrote about a favorite “local” band . . . Patchouli.
Today, I want to share five favorites from Tom Petty.
No matter my mood . . .
No matter what I’m feeling . . .
Whether I’m flying high . . .
Or feeling low . . .
Petty’s words resonate with gentle reminders that we must be patient and allow the path to unfold before us.
When I’m exploring or experimenting with something new . . . Learning to Fly:
When I’m feeling “trapped” or “hemmed” in . . . Wildflowers:
When I’ve jumped, while waiting for “the net” to appear . . . Free Falling:
When people don’t “get me” . . . You Don’t Know How It Feels:
And when I want a boost of energy . . . You Wreck Me, Baby:
Aah . . . that’s better!
Dragons In The Kitchen November 18, 2010

Last night I woke up with a terrific idea . . . a wonderful, exciting, marvelous life analogy.
Before returning to sleep, I wrote it down on the back of an envelope:
Dragons in the Kitchen
Good chefs
Know what YOU want
Life ~> The Dish
Adjust to YOUR Taste
This morning over coffee I reviewed my scribbled notes to gather the gossamer of the dream into a unified whole.
No luck.
The last four lines meld with my life philosophy, but the central theme of dragons in the kitchen ~ the thought that tossed me out of bed at four in the morning ~ seems unrelated to the recipe as a whole.
Perhaps I left out the secret ingredient?
Aah . . . that’s better!
