Last Call for submissions to The Writer’s Desk Competition ~ A Contest Giveaway!
The contest closes tomorrow, Friday, January 25th, at noon, EST (Eastern Standard Time).
After a wee toast to Robbie Burns, I’ll review contest submissions and select a few favorites.
On Groundhog Day, I’ll post the semi-finalists and open the vote. Mark your calendars.
If you make the finals you may ask your friends to vote for you. And you may, of course, vote for yourself.
But only once. No stuffing the ballot box.
Punxsutawney Phil will be watching!
For complete rules . . . CLICK HERE!
Aah . . . that’s better!

Ah! My desk is a hot mess right now. But I will definitely vote for a winner!
Once you set up your fancy new writery writing nook, remember to share it with us!
I’ll be voting
Excellent! I expect it’s going to be tough for me to narrow it down to 3-7 semi-finalists . . . and tougher still for you all to PICK JUST ONE. As far as I’m concerned, everyone who played along or enjoyed the submissions is a “winner.”
What does Nate Silver have to say about the whole thing?
Should I shoot him a challenge? He kind of fell short with his Superbowl predictions. Do you think he can handle predicting:
1) Whether Punxsutawney Phil will see his shadow on 2/2/13?
2) Which submissions will make it into the semi-finals?
3) What the “popular vote” will reveal on Valentine’s Day?
4) What the electoral college has to say about all of it?
Challenge him to a pizza bake-off.
Ooh . . . a pizza bake off! Yum!
BTW: Fresh Market has a special on its cranberry pecan salad this weekend. It looked good.
Oh, I forgot about this…I can’t wait to read the semi-finalists
I expect you aren’t the only one. Trifecta has the right idea . . . two or three days to submit is plenty of time for anyone who wants to play along. Live and learn.
I’ve been having fun visiting the blog posts of everyone who entered…still have a few more to go.:) Looking forward to seeing the finalists…there were some amazing entries, Nancy…like the cello-playing chocolate chip cookie maker…WOW!
I’ve enjoyed the “sneak peeks” into people’s writing lives . . . great images and imagery.
Phil has to first wake up before he can offer an opinion!
Nancy
It would be funny if he refused to come out . . . with 40,000 people standing around staring at this burrow hole.
Oops, I didn’t realize it was coming so soon. Oh well, I’ll be on the voting side!
Awesome! Picking the semi-finalists may prove a challenge. But choosing JUST ONE to vote for might be even harder.
I will be voting!
Thanks, Marie!
CONTEST NOW CLOSED. Semi-finalists will be announced on Groundhog Day . . . 2/2/13.
Voting will run through Valentine’s Day.
Feel free to post additional links to your Writing Desks . . . even though they will not be eligible to receive The Writing Desk.
Thanks for playing along, following, and cheering from the sidelines!
I’m getting such a kick out of this, Nancy. It’s really fun to see how others organize and set up their process. I think we all agree that creating our own posts, and investing time in reading what others are saying, is very time consuming! So I now enjoy “picturing” how some are creating and sharing. I’m so glad you thought this up!
Thanks, Debra. It’s gonna be tough to pick semi-finalists . . . everyone had something of interest to say about their writing life and their writing “desks.”
Great contest, Nancy: it’s opened up so many of my favourite writer’s desks! Thank you. It takes gumption to put a contest like that out there. But it gives us all a lot of pleasure.
I’m delighted with the submissions . . . it’s going to be tough to narrow the field down and pick the semi-finalists for the ballot. But I made the commitment and shall follow through.
Thanks for your part, Kate!
