Faces and places
resurrect stored images
from our storied pasts
Twilight vampires
steal the sun, bright thoughts fade ’til
darkness looms ‘mid gloom
Masterminds observe
clues to unlock hidden codes
and reveal the truth
Life is seldom black or white
Aah . . . that’s better!

Seldom black or white, if not never but life makes us question our selves an that makes the trip worth while to risk the vampires….you are a sharer and play nice others, thank you for this.
Thanks, HH! A wise man once said that the unexamined life is not worth living. Another wise man said that the unlived life is not worth examining.
Both were correct.
There are so many shades between black and white!
Aren’t there? Gray proliferates.
Is that a zebra’s bottom?
And no, perception is a dictator. It needs regular inquisition.
It is a zebra’s bottom! We ran into it at the Rainforest Cafe in Orlando.
Yes! When we change our perspective, our perception shifts.
I love the zebra chair
There are so many shades between black and white. I know people who think there are none – and that can be a bit off-putting at times!
I fell in love with that chair at the Rainforest Cafe this summer. It would look GREAT in the bar of your new home.
I find that the more open I am to possibilities . . . the less defined my experiences become.
I like the clouds and the twilight vampires, but not the gloom so much! And sometimes black and white’s good too!
Agreed! If we don’t watch our thoughts, mindless clouds roll in (on “auto pilot”) and obscure the sun from view.
Very nice!
Thanks, Barbara. I’ve been wanting to share that middle image for ages. Better storm clouds in the sky . . . than stormy thoughts in my head.
Things can be easier to decipher when black and white (the shades of gray get complicated.) I think life is more beautiful when it is a rainbow
(Just not too many storms before the rainbow…)
When reading, I prefer black (or dark gray) on white. For almost everything else, I prefer a riot of deep rich hues ~ purples, greens, and all colors in between.
Is the top photo a spiral staircase? very nice.
I can’t imagine sitting on that zebra.
Yes, the top photo is the spiral staircase in the Assateague Lighthouse on Chincoteague Island in Virginia.
It might be FUN to belly up to the bar on a belly-less zebra . . . or on the giraffe next to it. The Rainforest Cafe also had lions, tigers, and more.
You’ll have to show us photos of the zoo of chairs!
Top photo is of a lighthouse! Of course.
I thought I had taken some pics of the rest of the menagerie . . . but I didn’t. Next time!
I like the title, and it definitely describes the thoughts that disturb our inner quiet. I’m very aware of the fact that nothing is entirely black or white–I can at times appear a bit waffly while I move back and forth across the two colors! Now I’ll think about zebras when I consider where I land on a subject.
Our villa is home to more than a few zebras ~ painted, stuffed, and statuary. Maybe it’s the stark contrast between black and white and the infinite variations in stripes (all residing in harmony) that attracts me to them?
If we don’t “mastermind” our thoughts, Twilight Vampires can suck the light out of us ~ turning sunny days to the darkest of grays.
If you’re one captain and your spouse the opposite it’s quite the experience navigating through the waters…
“Masterminds observe
clues to unlock hidden codes
and reveal the truth”
How true – if we embrace the fact of the spectrum, we start to see the secret shades inbetween the extremes – makes for a far more interesting and tolerant life.
Yes, more interesting and tolerant. When we let go of the desire to prove we’re “right,” we see the nuances between black and white.
