Adele cleaned up at the Grammy’s on Sunday night.

Here’s one reason why:

Aah . . . that’s better!

I love words. I love to sing them and speak them and even now, I must admit, I have fallen into the joy of writing them.  ~ Anne Rice

LOVE Adele!!

nrhatch - February 15, 2012

I am in LOVE with this song . . . it’s “rolling in the deep” recesses of my mind as I type. :D

2. Judson - February 15, 2012

Yep … thought she deserved every award she got! Still, I found myself awfully glad that I had DVR’ed the show, because watching her try to think of something new to say with each subsequent aceptance was sort of painful. Mercifully, the Grammys seems to have gotten a handle on the “endless acceptance speech” syndrome. BTW, I was part of an open-mic show last week in which I had to follow a little 10- year old girl who belted out “Rolling in the Deep” like a seasoned pro. Talk about a tough act to folow!

nrhatch - February 15, 2012

Oh, no! Following a talented 10-year-old on stage is TOUGH!

I am not a regular viewer of awards shows . . . too many pats on the back and redundant and repetitive expressions of thanks to anyone and everyone who contributed to the end result.

We watched for about an hour . . . and fell in love with Adele’s voice ~ truly a treat.

3. Catherine Johnson - February 15, 2012

My dad loves Adele and I thought I’d never heard her but I love that song I just never put them together. I have to get her album. I’d love to write with that in the background. Thanks!

nrhatch - February 15, 2012

Until seeing her at the Grammy’s, I’d been unaware of her rise and claim to fame.

Phenomenal singer.

4. Three Well Beings - February 15, 2012

I fell in love with Adele last year when my sister-in-law gave me her CD “21″ for my birthday. I have since gone back and bought others, and to think she is what, about 23 years old? She has such a mature and unique, truly stand-out voice, and I like her plain spokenness. She is so unique in a sea of bizarre sameness! I hope she just continues to go far! Nice tribute, Nancy. Anyone not yet familiar might be eager to investigate :-) Debra

Perfectly put! Adele is a singer who relies on her VOICE to sell songs ~ a rather “novel concept” these days.

When I see other “over the top” performances, I wonder if these singing “sensations” use the lack of clothes (and other bizarre behaviors) to distract us from the absence of raw power.

5. granny1947 - February 15, 2012

I love this one…good to listen to it again…thank you.

nrhatch - February 15, 2012

Her voice . . . soars. :D

6. suzicate - February 15, 2012

I had not heard of her until this week…she is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! I guess I must have been living under a rock…

nrhatch - February 15, 2012

I’ve been living under the same rock, Suzi. Hearing her was the best part of the Grammy’s for us.

7. Paula Tohline Calhoun - February 15, 2012

I do enjoy Adele very much. I saw her the first time on the Today show when her CD “21″ first came out. She was very impressive. She reminds me in a sort of weird way of Norah Jones – in terms of her writing style and the depth of much of her music, and in ability – although I don’t know if Adele plays the piano like Norah can! Thanks for sharing.

I didn’t watch the Grammys. I am so out of touch with most main stream music that it probably would have bored me. I suspected it would be just a huge tribute to Whitney. Ashley and I, as much as we liked Whitney when she started, we have gotten quite tired of hearing “I Will Always Love You” as though it was the only song she ever recorded!

nrhatch - February 15, 2012

Adele’s voice reminds me of KT Tunstall (who sang Black Horse and a Cherry Tree). I can see you likening her to Norah.

Whitney was “present” at the Grammy’s this year as performers sought to demonstrate their compassionate understanding of her life and untimely demise.

8. sweetdaysundertheoaks - February 15, 2012

She has me tapping my foot and nodding my head to the beat! She is one class act.

nrhatch - February 15, 2012

I’ve only listened to bits and pieces of her other songs . . . but this one is definitely “rolling in the deep.” :D

9. sufilight - February 15, 2012

I love Adele and it’s this song that made me check her other songs out. She sings with beautiful passion!

nrhatch - February 15, 2012

It will be interesting to see which direction her career takes.

10. kateshrewsday - February 15, 2012

Hope her voice is better once and for all now, Nancy. That international career must test the vocal chords…

nrhatch - February 15, 2012

I’m sure she’s glad the throat surgery is behind her ~ that would be nerve wracking for a singer.

11. Booksphotographsandartwork - February 15, 2012

The ability to sing especially like that much be the best gift ever! I am so tone deaf. It would be such great fun and so uplifting to be able to sing really well.

nrhatch - February 15, 2012

I agree, Linda. Singing is a very joyous way to pass the time. :D

12. Tammy - February 15, 2012

She is just amazing. I love listening to her.

nrhatch - February 15, 2012

I love “discovering” a new voice . . . that resonates just right.

13. jannatwrites - February 16, 2012

We bought several songs off her 21 CD – I love her voice! I’d never seen the video so I enjoyed watching it here.

I dislike that media feels the need to comment about her weight and call her ‘fat’ (I think she looks pretty!) I hope she doesn’t let them get to her :)

nrhatch - February 16, 2012

I’ve heard more compliments about her singing (AND the fact that she keeps her clothes on while performing) than criticisms about her weight or appearance.

Maybe it’s time for the pendulum to swing again?

14. Julie - February 16, 2012

Adele is incredible. Didn’t watch the Grammy’s and I hadn’t seen this video. Thanks for sharing it.

nrhatch - February 16, 2012

I “never” watch the Grammy’s or other Award shows . . . don’t know what inspired me to tune in this year. But, when they started talking aobut Adele, I knew I wanted to see her sing.

After she performed Rolling in the Deep, we deep-sixed the program and went back to our regularly scheduled lives. :D

15. souldipper - February 16, 2012

Thank you, Nancy…a pleasure to hear tonight.

nrhatch - February 16, 2012

Sounds like she’s a hit.

16. bluebee - February 16, 2012

Fabulous!

nrhatch - February 16, 2012

An interesting song . . . peaks, plateaus, and valleys.

17. Tilly Bud - February 16, 2012

Fantastic.

nrhatch - February 16, 2012

I love the way she uses her voice ~ a wind ensemble full of lovely nuances.

18. Team Oyeniyi - February 16, 2012

The kids loved this from the moment they arrived in Australia and all can sing it word for word!

nrhatch - February 16, 2012

That’s cool! They’re ahead of me . . . I’m missing a few words here and there.

19. Tori Nelson - February 16, 2012

Love her. Love her music. Love that she swept the Grammys :)

nrhatch - February 16, 2012

What I find confusing is that she won Best Song, Album AND Record. Best song. Got it. Best Album. Sure, makes sense. But how can “Best Record” be other than a song or an album? ;)

20. Woman of Worth » Kidnapped… with Gratitude! - February 19, 2012

[...] day of writing was inspired by a song I heard playing on Nancy’s Blog ~ Spirit Light’s The Way this [...]

21. eof737 - February 20, 2012

Yeah she sure did clean up. I love her down to earth personality. ;-)

nrhatch - February 21, 2012

I’m not sure how “down to earth” she is these days ~ she just moved into a 10 bedroom mansion, with an indoor pool, on 25 acres outside London to escape the paparazzi . . .
